About
Yogis for Positive Change
Our mission is to foster a sense of cooperation within the Yoga Community and encourage involvement in community service as a positive way to create societal change and mend political divides. To this end, Yogis for Positive Change sponsors Mid Atlantic Yoga Week and the Be Well Summer Wellness Campaign posts information on events and community service/advocacy projects on the community calendar, and encourages others within the community to do the same.
The Karma Project 2019
During The 2019 Summer Wellness Campaign and Mid Atlantic Yoga Week 2019 the Yoga Community throughout Virginia, Maryland, and DC will come together in support of The Carpenter’s Shelter for Homeless Families, The Fredericksburg Food Bank, Veterans Yoga Project, United We Om and other not for profits.
Through the Karma Project, Y+C works to raise funds and awareness for those in need.
Past events have included a New Year’s Day Salute to the Sun to benefit the Alexandria Animal Shelter, the Virginia Yoga Week Karma Project, benefitting charities on the kcal, regional national, and international levels.
Yogis for Positive Change works closely with the Old Town North Community Partnership to create a more vibrant, vital, walkable community for those who work, live, or own small businesses within Old Town North Alexandria’s emerging Arts and Cultural District and with Yoga Union to support the education and professional development of Yoga Instructors throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
The Karma Project is a unique opportunity for the community to demonstrate the generosity of heart and spirit of the peaceful warrior.
